Floor Insulation - From Inside the Crawl Space
The first item of business in your crawl space is to seal off the ground from everything. Clean the floor of sharp objects, make sure that it has no places where water can collect – it needs an even gentle slope towards the front of the house and away from the house. Then put the vapor barrier – 6 mil plastic – down and tape it off. Secure it in place.
Stuff the batts between the joists/studs under your floor and hold them in place with the flexible supports. Check the size needed before you buy.
Insulating with Rock Wool
Mineral Wool is semi-rigid, fire retardant, water repellant, and is supposed to hold via friction. If you think it’s not going to stay put – I won’t tell if you use Insulation Supports!
This kind of insulation can be called Rockwool or Mineral Wool insulation. It is often cut with a bread knife!
