The Problem With SoCal Homes and
Maybe in Your State, Too!!
As the weather becomes hotter and hotter, the drain on your cooling budget becomes greater and greater. When you used to be able to get by setting your air conditioner at 76 degrees, as it gets hotter, that 76 degrees stops feeling cool in the house. The only time it feels cool is when you walk back into the house for the first 5 seconds!
WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON??
It turns out that your house is leaking. It’s leaking heat through the WALLS; it’s leaking heat through the WINDOWS; it’s leaking heat through the ROOF and maybe even, the FLOOR. And that leakage is going to cost you.
If you have NOT insulated your house (was your house built before or around 1978?) the outside heat is “leaking into” your house through the walls. If you still have single pane windows, it’s leaking in through your windows. If you don’t have insulation in your attic, it’s leaking into the attic and down into your house. If your house has a crawl space below it, the heat is leaking in through the floor. All the air conditioning in the world can NOT keep back that 117 degree heat (remember THAT day in 2018 in Riverside and San Bernardino??). So, the A.C. runs all day and all night … talk about expensive!
In the winter, the opposite happens. The air gets cool outside all the while you’re trying to heat up the inside. And the heat IN YOUR HOUSE leaks OUT. You end up PAYING your utility company to … heat up the great outdoors! Whaaatt!? True story.
I’M NOT LYING TO YOU. THE ONLY WAY TO BEAT THIS PROBLEM IS TO CHANGE SOME THINGS ABOUT YOUR HOUSE.

I’ll tell you the key words to use in your search to find the right contractor or business to call. There could be links and ads, if I get that far, and, if you’ve watched the DIY videos, you’ll KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT. It will cost money – sometimes lots of money. But, many of us are willing to pay for someone else to do the work!
